Radiation Antidote

How can we protect ourselves from radiation?

With the current nuclear crisis in Japan many people are wondering how to protect themselves in the event of a similar disaster here (wherever you are). Right now, the Japan disaster does not pose a threat to the America’s. But, look at a map of nuclear reactor sites in the United States and the reality of the Japan crisis takes on a different proportion.

The Macrobiotic Diet Protected Survivors of the Nagasaki Nuclear Blast

One of the best lessons on natural protection against radiation comes from Japan itself. A nuclear bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. St. Francis Hospital was one mile from the center of the blast.

Michio Kushi reports the following in his book Macrobiotic Diet. Most of the patients in the hospital survived the initial blast. Soon after patients began to experience symptoms of radiation sickness. The head of the department of Internal Medicine of St. Francis at the time was a Tatsuichiro Akizuki, M.D.

He instructed his staff and patients to eat a strict macrobiotic diet. They ate only brown rice, miso, tamari soy sauce soup, wakame (edible seaweed), other sea vegetables, Hokkaido pumpkin and sea salt. All sugar and sweets were prohibited. As a result no one in the hospital died. The death rate due to radiation sickness among other survivors in the city is estimated at 15-20%.

So there is good evidence that diet can reduce the impact of radiation exposure. It is unlikely that many people will make the effort to adopt a macrobiotic diet. So what is realistic for the average American?

Here is a remedy that has great value. What is so great about it is that it greatly benefits general health while also protecting against the ill effects of radiation and of toxins overall.

Zeolite. Zeolite is a naturally occurring mineral that is formed when hot lava touches sea water. It’s microscopic structure has been referred to as a “cage” that traps toxins such as heavy metals, viruses, even organic toxins.

Nuclear radiation is composed of radioactive isotopes (molecules which are deteriorating and emitting radiation). These include radioactive isotopes of cesium, strontium, potassium and iodine. As a nutritional supplement, Zeolite captures many of these radioactive isotopes so that they are excreted from the body.

Zeolite Used To Cleanup Chernobyl. The nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl in 1986 released a tremendous amount of radiation. The amount of radioactive isotopes released were 30 – 40 times the radiation from the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs.

Massive amounts of Zeolite were used at Chernobyl to clean up and protect against the radiation. About 500,000 pounds of zeolite was used to cover the reactor, to construct barriers and to decontaminate soil. Radiation in a local river, the Dnieper River was removed using zeolite filters. Water from the Chernobyl power plant was also filtered with zeolite, removing 95% of the radioactive cesium and 50% of the radioactive strontium. In nearby Bulgaria, zeolite was added to cow’s feed to decrease the radioactive cesium in their milk. Children were fed zeolite cookies and biscuits to remove cesium from their bodies. Throughout Western Europe zeolite was used in animal feed and in the soil to reduce the effects of radiation.

Zeolite products are used in holistic medicine for detoxification in general. I specifically recommend Advanced Cellular Zeolite (ACZ) Nano. To purchase ACZ Nano please stop by the clinic or call Dr. Mittag at 952-934-0525.

ACZ Nano has been shown to very effectively remove heavy metal toxins such as mercury, lead, aluminum, etc. from the body. It also has been show to remove volatile organic hydrocarbons (toxins), free radicals and radioactive toxins. It can be taken regularly to constantly remove toxins from the body. In a nuclear accident I would also take large doses of it to help protect against the effects of radioactive isotopes inhaled and imbibed through air, food and water.

Zeolite Does Not Protect The Thyroid — Use Organic Iodine

Zeolite would not protect the thyroid gland from radioactive iodine. It would help to protect the other organs of the body. To protect the thyroid I would take organic iodine (from alfalfa and sea dulse). Note that the macrobiotic diet features lots of sea vegetables which are high in organic iodine.

Iodine in the diet (or water or air) is preferentially absorbed by the thyroid gland. If exposed to radioactive iodine, this iodine concentrates in the thyroid gland and the radiation damages the thyroid. The purpose of potassium iodide or organic iodine is to saturate the thyroid with as much healthy (non-radioactive) iodine as it can absorb. Then the radioactive iodine is not absorbed as much and the thyroid won’t receive a concentrated dose of radiation.

I would either eat lots of seaweed (which is available in most grocery stores) or take an “organic iodine” supplement. Potassium iodide can cause an allergic reaction in some people, and when taken in the necessary large doses (for acute radiation exposure) can have side effects. Supplementing with organic iodine on the other hand can be helpful to the thyroid gland in normal circumstances, and in the case of radiation exposure, would be protective.
